I really liked the way this author started this book. He took an experience from his kid's elementary school and used pictures to describe textures and prints to introduce the book to the entire animal kingdom. I also liked the quotes/lyrics found at the beginning of each chapter from various artists. Sean Carroll, the author, did a great job of using transitions to describing different animals from zebras to butterflies, it seems like he has traveled and seen a lot of different places. He spoke about how evolution started and briefly discussed specific people who played a role in the discovery, such as Darwin. Not only did he talk about the old explanations of evolution he also took time to discuss modern synthesis and Evo Divo.
Usually, I don't like reading books for school, but I think I might find this one to be interesting and more enjoyable than others I have read.
